‘Tricky spaghetti’

Generally people indirectly pick up words or phrases from other people.  Tucky is one of those people that tries her best to spread her new phrases, some may say by force, onto (at first) sceptical newcomers.

So the new one is ‘tricky spaghetti’. It’s not as technical as you may think.  Tricky still holds its original meaning. And the ‘spaghetti’ part means absolutely nothing. Catchy yeah?

Well I never believed I’d be saying it, but now the three of us are throwing spaghetti around all over the joint and get really excited when one of them really flows off the tongue.

Tricky spaghetti / Careful spaghetti / Ready spaghetti (admittedly we can’t really claim that one) / Express spaghetti (more like a question when you want to skip doing something) / Scary spaghetti / Awkward spaghetti/ A-mazing spaghetti. So pretty much exactly how you’d use these words in their normal context...but it’s all about the intonation.

ANYWAY

A Cathederal

Today we walked around town trying to soak it all up, we decided not to strain ourselves as Carli was arriving the next day and we’d do all the major things together.  But we managed to buy another dress for Tucky to add to the 4 she bought in London, not that she's actually wearing anything other than her robber outfit.

It was supposed to come out as a compliment...But don't you think she'd make a great male model, it's all about the stance.

We then found our way to Arthur’s seat, a large hill that you can hike to the top of.  I wanted to call it a mountain but Tucky disputed that, so it’s in between a mountain and a hill. We were not dressed for hiking so we trudged up a smaller one and saw some panoramic views and got some really awful photos of us, it was not a photogenic day and we’re blaming the wind.

ok well they look like hills in this, but they're bigger in person, or mountain, or whatever.

not so model like

Back at the hostel we got some wine and made ourselves some dinner, hostel style, meaning quick and easy with limited ingredients...meaning salad.

Finishing dinner, Tuck noticed the dart board in front of us and said she’d show me how to play although she did say “I’m not really good, I’ve got my brothers board in my old room but I don’t really use it much”.  First go she gets a bullseye. Such a closet dart nerd.

We continued on for a while until Brian the American from Philadelphia came up to us and said he thought we needed some help.  He obviously didn’t see the bullseye and obviously just wanted to talk to two really talented people...

We ended up going out on the town with Brian and he turned out to be a great tour guide (well, it was better than his dancing, pick up techniques and judgement of reaction from said pick up techniques).   He told us a lot of historical facts while we were a bit pissed walking from pub to club, which does make things more interesting. Tuck didn’t even opt for the express spaghetti especially when he accidently found the cafe that J. K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter in.

Interesting facts according to Brian the American from Philadelphia:
‘Laughing your head off’ came from when they used to execute people by beheading them. An old man was about to be executed when the stands collapsed killing many of the spectators.  The old man thought it was so funny that the people who had come to watch him die had died themselves that he was laughing when he was beheaded.

There is a small platform where someone announces to Edinburgh if the Queen dies (and perhaps other royals in the past). And to this day they still would wait 3 days before announcing it because that is how long it used to take to get from Edinburgh to Scotland on horseback.  Tucky guessed this one and was so impressed with herself (I actually think it was surprise) that she said I have to footnote this important fact.  I will footnote this with a footnote. Tucky, I can buy you a diary if you would like one.

(There were more fun facts but we can’t remember them now due to slight but responsible intoxication)

So we had a night of dancing, drinking, joking AND learning, and you can’t argue with that.
